Words of Wisdom: What's on the minds of Vitality senior leaders?

Published: 24/01/2022

We asked some Vitality senior leaders to share their words of wisdom at the start of 2022.

January is typically a time for renewal, reflection and setting goals. You may have used the start of the new year to look back at the previous one, while taking time to acknowledge your achievements, and evaluate what to take into 2022 - or perhaps do differently.

With this in mind, we asked a few of Vitality’s senior leaders to share some of their words of wisdom with you. What we received ranged from useful life advice to reminders of the importance of your role as advisers, as well as our ability to adapt during challenging times.

They also touch upon the power of identifying your top priorities at the start of a new year in order to smash your goals by the end of it. Read their thoughts below.

Greg Levine, Managing Director, Sales & Distribution

“Ideas are easy, execution is difficult. Choose a few priorities in 2022 and turn them into realities. Instead of making just a millimetre of progress in lots of directions focus on accomplishing the things that are truly vital. As the Chinese proverb goes, He who chases too many rabbits catches none”.

Pippa Andrews, Director of Corporate Business

“The most positive way a client can manage their future and long-term private medical insurance (PMI) costs (without cutting back on benefits) is to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees. In our experience this requires insight, information, encouragement and incentives that reward positive behaviour and engagement. No matter what lens you apply, this is a sound basis for healthcare strategy and future cost management, and as an added benefit should lead to happier more engaged people as well!”

Andy Philo, Director of Strategic Partnerships

“An adviser’s job is difficult at the best of times. But in 2022 (and beyond) I think it’s going to be even more important to be able to justify why an alternative product has not been sold, not just the actual recommendation. The value of professional, holistic advice will be particularly valuable in protecting both the client and the adviser.”

Athos Rushovich, Director, Specialist Health Sales and Dedicated Distribution

“Over millennia, humans have proven their resilience and ability to adapt as conditions changed. The difference in this period, is the rate and the scale of change, and of adaptation required. We are re-imagining our relationship with everything around us, and never before have our 'purpose' and 'shared value' been more relevant. These will guide us into the 'new normal'. I am excited by the opportunities that the future will offer, and I look forward to sharing them with you.”
